new Parker entry and a deadline

Chris Ready says via e-mail, "John Boorman cast Lee Marvin, and I'm getting a Burt Lanchaster / Ralph Meeker vibe off what little of Darwyn Cooke's Parker I've seen. So for my take, I've cast Belmondo by way of Lee Van Cleef. Hope you dig. All the best to Mr Cooke. Can't wait to read his version of The Hunter."

Chris has a blog called Disaster Year: 20xx which can be found here.

and I know you're sick of me asking "where's yours?" so I won't do that this time. We'll be accepting contest entries until July 16th.

"I *HEART* Richard Stark’s THE HUNTER by Darwyn Cooke"

Colleen Coover, an amazingly talented cartoonist, gives her quick precis of Darwyn's new book here and did what she calls fan art. I call it cool.

You can see more of Ms. Coover's work at her website here.

new Parker review lives between Wednesdays

new Parker entry and a closing date!

The artist known as Varkjovich is from Italy and is a graphic designer and illustrator. Vark says "I'm not a professional comic artist and currently i got no active blog, but I got plans (with a little help from a couple o' friends) for a “comic section” website to be open in september/october (something like the old newspaper comic pages, with two or three comic serials in it)." So keep an eye out for it! Vark added "this is my (italian) Parker...and send my best regards to mr. Darwyn." I will, Vark!

and as usual, i must ask where is your entry in the Draw Parker! contest? We'll be accepting entries until July 16th so Darwyn can go over all entries and we'll announce the results the following week.

two new Parker entries

Mirco Chen sent in this version of Parker. Mirco mentions "I have to admit I don't know much about the series or Parker but I read Richard Stark said he thought Jack Palance was a good fit and I can't argue with that."

You can see more of Mirco's work on his blog here.
And Tim DeMoor, who says he is "a relatively new illustrator" (which makes me even more envious, since I can't draw to save my life), sent along this entry.

There's still plenty of time to get your entry in! Draw Parker!

Parker love at Book Expo

Several journalists and book afficionados who attended the Book Expo in New York this past weekend got to sample many sweet books that will be coming to the rest of us over the course of the summer. IDW showed off some advance copies of Darwyn's Parker adaptation and I am sorely jealous of those folks who got a copy.

Join me in my envy at these links:

Splashpage at MTV

Slog at the Stranger
(That's Slog's photo above as well.)

ComicMix

and Robot 6 gives it a mention in their "what are you reading?" round-up.

and DC will be collecting the Bad Girls mini-series, a fun series with artwork by J. Bone, Daniel Krall and others, under a spiffy cover by Darwyn pictured here:

that's it for now - keep reading good comics!
